Toyota Etios Twins All Set to Be Launched in Brazil

Toyota Motors conceived the Etios platform specifically for the emerging markets like India and other countries. Toyota launched Etios sedan and hatchback in Indian car market first and the Japanese auto maker is all set to intromit these cars in other global markets. Toyota began exporting Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva hatchback to the South African auto market in the beginning of this month. And now the Japanese auto major eyes to launch Etios twins to Brazilian car market. Toyota instead of exporting India made cars to Brazil is planning to manufacture Etios twins in Brazil through a separate production unit. Toyota can commence the production of these cars in Brazil from the month of June and Etios twins can go on sale from August 2012.
Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva hatchback will be produced and sold in Brazil. Toyota could equip an ethanol compliant petrol mill to Etios twins as this fuel is imperative for the Brazilian car market. The ethanol compliant petrol engine will be a major highlight of the Brazil bound Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback. Speculations are rife that the diesel powered variant might not be suitable for the Brazilian market. In India Etios twins are a part of the entry level segments because of their low price, similarly in Brazil too these cars will be a part of entry level segments. The Brazil bound Etios sedan and hatchback will also witness certain changes in the interiors and specifications too.
Toyota Motors first launched Toyota Etios sedan in the Indian car market in December 2010, the sedan received good response from the customers by roping in 12,000 bookings within few days of the launch. However, the company launched Etios sedan in petrol guise only, last year Toyota launched hatchback version of Etios, christened Toyota Etios Liva which again was launched in petrol variant only. Looking at the out stripping demand for diesel cars in India, the car maker rolled out Etios twins in diesel guise in September 2011.
The diesel powertrain powering Etios twins is the 1.4 liter D-4D diesel mill. Sales did rev up after the introduction of diesel variant of Etios sedan and Etios hatchback, but still it could not overpower its contemporaries. These are the lowest priced cars from the stable of Toyota, but despite of low price these offerings from Toyota could not impress Indian customers as much as the company had expected. The reason behind this could be the austere styling unlike which other Toyota cars in India. To pull down the cost of Etios twins Toyota has compromised on the quality of the interiors which is not expected from Toyota. Though both the cars deliver high performance and are frugal too. Also the twins offer ample space to the passengers, boot space it good too. Above all these cars come with the reliability of Toyota brand which itself is a big thing. To expand its foothold in India, Toyota is now targeting the rural markets across the country.
